The only way I can see this working would be to set up the new server  
as a "Remote Account" in IMP. For the "without intervention by the  
user" part, you would need to write a script to add the account  
configuration data to the prefs for each user. The user would still  
need to enter his/her password, however, when logging in to the "new"  
account.
