This problem isn't only related to WHUPS - depending on your configuration.  If
you are using the to/fromBackend() hooks (might be doing it even without them
if you login with 'user@domain'), it's dropping the '@domain' when creating
group permissions.

If this isn't the problem, my apologies, but I figured I toss my 2cents in.
