Just did a little test with Python 2.5, Boa 0.6.1, wxPython 2.8 unicode 
on Windows Vista French and I don't see any problem.

What do you get if you do this in the shell:

 >>> import wx
 >>> wx.GetDefaultPyEncoding()
'iso-8859-1'
 >>>
