Error with three character function name?

OK people
I've got phpEclipse running on 3.2 - not sure what the problem was, but 
I've been building a new machine as a copy of one of my development 
machines and have put everything in clean. Loading phpEclipse via the 
/update/cvs worked fine and I have a running copy.

I'm back to an error in hundreds of lines of code in the bitweaver code 
base which seems to be due to using tra() as a function name for the 
translation code. tran() would seem to fix the error message - but there 
is nothing wrong with tra() so why do we get the error?

I'll get linched if I change all those files so can someone explain why 
phpEclipse is complaining :(
