I have Tab configured to add  x spaces. I would like 
to be able to configure my Backspace to BackTab: thus 
remove x spaces (if there are x spaces on the left of 
the cursor).

First, thanks for responding. Always a good sign that the project developers 
take interest. 

With regard to your remarks: using shift+tab is not what i meant exactly. 
It's more like: if i enter a tab (is x spaces) then when i, then, follow 
that by a backspace, intuitively i expect to backspace a tab (thus x 
spaces).  Pff when i write this down, it sounds so nitpicking ;-)

Maybe i should elaborate some more:
I indent my code using spaces, so when i use tab in a line without any 
preceding characters other then spaces, i somehow expect to jump to the next 
indent position: y times x spaces (where y is the number of indents). Thus 
tab should then add 1 to x spaces.
Intuitively, i'd expect the backspace to work the opposite way: if no 
preceding characters other then spaces, the Backspace should remove enough 
spaces to jump to the first position that fits the y times x spaces.

To improve this even more, i'd love to see a vertical bar (1 character wide) 
in my editor that highlights the start of my line with code if it does start 
at y times x spaces, giving me the opportunity to visually check the code  
position against surrounding code, so i can compare the correct nesting 
within e.g. my if-then-else statements.

Does this sound as a good feature to you too?

There already is the ability to backspace X spaces by using
shift+tab. Is the functionality of this feature  what you
are requesting or is what you are requesting different?
