Initial Comment:
Tried for weeks now and cannot find a proper Ftp plugin
(eclipse-FTP-Webdav, sftp, esftp, deployer, etc...)
that is easy to use and hassle free.
If you can add a ftp plugin that similar to dreamweaver's
then your plugin will be the perfect PHP IDE.

Or an FTP plug=in that is similar to edit plus / Zend Studio

Eclipse is really loosing out on lots of potential users
because of this lack of FTP file explorer support.

I use the JCraft plugin from
http://www.jcraft.com/eclipse-sftp/.
SFTP Plug-in for Eclipse will add the SFTP support to Eclipse.
In the current implementation, SFTP client and SFTP Team
provider has been provided.
SFTP Team provider allows you to synchronize files and
directories between the workspace and a remote location as
WebDAV and FTP support for Eclipse does, but by using ssh2
sftp protocol.
Plug-ins will work on Eclipse 3.2RC3 and later.

I use the ESftp plugin from
http://kosh.kmem.org/projects/esftp/ this has an awkward
installation procedure (2 different packages must be
installed) But it works like a charm. Unfortunately it does
not support normal FTP, but this is fine for me.
