Hello, dear developers.

In the last meeting I wanted to discuss more about the new PHPdoc View but
really unfortunately my Internet connection went down for emergency
maintenance. I still would like to collect your opinions on the PHP Manual
integration.

It was suggested - and I accepted - having another view, in the same tab
group of problems, console, bookmarks and the PHP browser. This view would
work in almost the same way the Javadoc view works for the Java perspective,
showing the PHP Manual in it or displaying a given selected function's
reference.

I would like to know:

1. if you all agree with it
2. what you think about this
3. what else you have in mind about the HTML docs integration
4. what will be done with the existing "PHP Help" HTML docs integration,
accessible via Shift+Ctrl+H

Below follows snippets of discussions we had about it in the IRC channel:

[Begin]

May 14 13:51:16 <pombreda> there are stuff like the CHM help ..
May 14 13:51:26 <pombreda> I would like to drop and onluy have HTML PHP
help
[snip]
May 14 14:38:27 <pombreda> the idea is to crete a plugin using the new
plugin wizard that is an help plugin...
[snip]
May 14 14:09:56 <pombreda> for PHPdoc that is very similar to javadoc,
right?
[snip]
* May 14 14:28:58 <schnoodles> have you ever thought of making a window
where you can view the php manual in
[snip]
May 14 14:34:38 <pombreda> schnoodles: for the php manual, the idea it to
get it in, and drop the old CHM windows only version
May 14 14:36:46 <pombreda> this part does not require any java coding
May 14 14:38:27 <pombreda> the idea is to crete a plugin using the new
plugin wizard that is an help plugin...
May 14 14:38:34 <pombreda> and add the phgpmanula in it
May 14 14:38:43 <pombreda> pluus some xml pointers to the table of
content
May 14 14:38:51 <pombreda> *phpo manual
[snip]
May 23 21:29:14 <pombreda> we would be better off by just using an html
format
May 23 21:29:21 <pombreda> opened in the browser
May 23 21:29:30 <pombreda> like java's java doc
* May 23 21:29:33 <pombreda>    no need for view
[snip]
* Jun 01 00:25:16 <ed_mann>     scorphus: also with that let's add the
PHPDoc tab... or does it already have it?
Jun 01 00:25:36 <scorphus> that's exactly what I'm planning to do
[snip]
Jun 11 14:11:14 <scorphus> ajt: it was decided to drop CHM support and
improve HTML help making it like the Javadoc view of the java perspective

[End]

* -> these are somewhat controversial

In order to be able to make it all right, I'm enjoying reading documentation
on creating plugins and adding new or enhancing existing views of a plugin.

I'm looking forward to hear from you all soon :)

Thanks,
