Hi everyone, as usual I'm pluggin away at support for Tapestry 4. It's becoming quite clear that the new stuff will not be backwards compatible. Sounds scary but remember that Tapestry 4 is somwhat backwards compatible in that it will recognize and parse spec files using the Tapestry 3 DTDs. But, the scope of the work required (and time available to me) does not make it possible to use a new Tap 4 compatible version of Spindle to work your existing Tapestry 3 projects as Tapestry 3 projects. clear as mud? Once you update (whenever you can do that) to the Tap 4 version of Spindle you will only be able for that point forward to work on projects as Tap 4 projects (w/ hivemind, new validation rules, etc). Kinda sucks for the rather large set of people who will not be porting to Tapestry 4 in the short term. I think I can make everybody happy though. My thinking is leave Spindle as it sits today as Tap 3 compatible but deliver the new functionality as a new set of plugins. Which means the new set will need a new name. Since the sf project is called Spindle I guess the new name will need to have the word 'Spindle' in it to avoid confusion. Somthing like "Spindle X" where X is a new word. Lately I've been calling the new stuff the "thingamajig" but I don't think "Spindle Thingamajig" will fly. Any suggestions?
