GPS and Help

I see the newer versions of GPS no longer try to render HTML help  
files.  Instead it tries to hand off the file to an external viewer.   
I get a message that GPS is starting firefox but I never see the help  
file.  If I use the "ps" command I see a firefox <defunct> message.

Does viewing help work for anybody with GPS 4.0.0w?  If so, what is  
the secret.
