Hello,

The third pre-release build of Komodo IDE 7 is now out, as we continue
releasing new features for developers (along with bug fixes). You can
download it here:

	http://downloads.activestate.com/Komodo/releases/7.0.0a3/

We are expecting to have Komodo 7.0.0 final released some time next year
(in 2012); we'll continue releasing additional Komodo 7 alpha and beta
builds every 4-8 weeks until that time.

Komodo IDE 7.0.0a3 brings in three major features:

1) Node.js support

Komodo now provides excellent code intelligence and debugging support
for Node. Komodo's debugger can connect and interact with the Node V8
runtime, to show variables, set breakpoints, modify objects or view the
call stack - Komodo's debugger makes all of these things easy. As well
as debugging, Komodo's code intelligence provides support for the core
Node library, as well support for the CommonJS module specification,
which is used in Node for requiring (importing) JavaScript modules - try
out "console." or a "require('http')." in a Node.js file inside Komodo.

2) Stackato integration

Stackato is ActiveState's cloud hosting platform. For those of you in
the Stackato Developer Preview, Komodo provides tools that will allow
you to easily configure, develop, manage and deploy applications to the
Stackato platform. These tools are located in your Komodo toolbox pane.

Note that Stackato is currently in a Developer Preview, you can find
more information at the Stackato web site:

     http://www.stackato.com/

3) Movable Side Pane Widgets

You can now easily move any of Komodo's side pane widgets to a different
pane, such as being able to move the Code Browser to the right side
instead of the left. Just right-click on the side-pane tab you wish to
move and you'll see a context menu offering you the ability to move the
tab to an alternative pane.

== Other points of interest ==

Project system:

It is now possible to choose between a single-project view (as found in
Komodo 6.0) or a multi-project view (as found in Komodo 6.1). This can
be changed in your Places preferences.

Addon and Macro Developers:

Please refer to http://wiki.openkomodo.com/index.php/Developer:Komodo_7
for changes we think will most impact addon and macro developers;
notably, the movable side pane widgets system requires changes for
addons that add their own panes. Additionally, <view>.document has been
removed in favour of <view>.koDoc (which has existed since Komodo 6.0).

Upgrading note:

Unfortunately, for Windows users, you will need to uninstall any
previous versions of Komodo 7.0.0 Alpha to install Alpha 3. The built-in
update process should work for Linux and Mac users, and the next Windows
alpha should have no issues.
