Same here.

The Komodo installer should suggest ~/Komodo-<Edit|IDE>-5 as the
install location on Linux. If you put it there (or anywhere in your
home directory), the desktop icon should show up automatically. I've
taken to putting Komodo (and many other applications) in an ~/opt/
directory to keep things tidy.
