Hi Todd, Jeff, et al, Changing X-servers (to Xming) has improved the performance considerably. However, there is still something that you may want to look at, which seems like there may be an underlying implementation problem at heart. Perhaps it is still Pango, but I can't say. If I pull down menus from the top, e.g. File, Edit, Code, and move the cursor up and down at a normal speed, each menu item highlights as the cursor travels over it. But in the "Projects" pane, if I pull down either the "Project Tools" menu indicated by the gear icon or the "Add Item" menu indicated by the file-tree icon, the performance is much worse. If I move the cursor up and down in these menus at a normal speed, it will skip highlighting the menu options until the cursor stops. I have to slow down to an exceedingly unnatural speed to get each individual menu item to highlight. It seems strange that one set of menus performs normally, and another set performs so poorly. That is, it is hard to imagine this being simply due to poor X-server performance given the other menus' performance. But it's also hard to imagine what your code might be doing that could cause this. I imagine your menus being implemented by calls to library routines. So I would guess that the top-menus are implemented by a different library call than the Project Tools and Add Item menus in the Projects pane. -Tom Notice The information in this message is confidential and may be legally privileged.
