Have you tried the open/find toolbar?

Putting your cursor in the "Find" entry field will search the current document; <Enter> will find next.
Putting your cursor in the "in" (directory) field will search that directory.

The odd thing is that pressing Ctrl-Enter while searching in files will bring up the Find window so you can tweak the find method, but this same action does not work for searching in the current window. You have to press Ctrl-F.

Is there a way to setup Komodo Edit so I can double click on a word in my document and then immediately hit F3 to move to the next instance? I'd rather do that then open and close the find window each time.
