|hg status| on many/all files in filesystem

Lately (for the last few months, in fact, although I only bothered to
track it down recently), I've been noticing long-running and
CPU-intensive Mercurial processes started by Komodo that appear to be
checking the status of a large swath (perhaps all) of my filesystem,
including files that are not in Mercurial repositories.

ps reports the command being run as |/usr/bin/python /usr/bin/hg status
-A -X */** .|, the parent process is Komodo, and strace on the process
shows system calls like:

     open("/home/myk/.ccache/6/4", O_RDONLY|O_LARGEFILE) = 3

I'm running Komodo version 5.2.4, build 37659, platform
linux-libcpp6-x86. I've been meaning to try out the latest 6.0 beta but
haven't done so yet, so I don't know how things look there.

Is this intentional, a bug, or a misconfiguration on my part? In
preferences, Source Code Control > Mercurial > Mercurial Integration is
checked, as is "Check for status changes from outside of Komodo" (Check
every [15] minutes).
