There are many possible histories of information design.
What is yours?

People from many different backgrounds have come to think of
themselves as information designers. As a consequence there are
many origins of contemporary information design. It's time to
weave the threads of our origins into some interesting patterns.

We invite papers on any aspect of the history and origins of
contemporary information design.

2) Designing health information: setting the agenda
    (planning forum )

This planning forum is an opportunity for key stakeholders in
health policy, research, and funding to meet with internationally
recognised information designers and researchers: professionals
who can help give the public and professional health workers
access to highly usable health information. The purpose of the
meeting is to plan the future of information design practice and
research in the health sector.

If you have an interest in health information and are in a
position to help shape future practice, funding, and research,
please contact us immediately to receive an invitation to this
planning forum.

Information designers have always been involved in designing
health information, whether for professional or public use. From
the anatomical drawings of Vesalius in the 15th Century to
patient information in the 21st, there is a rich tradition of
information design practice in the service of health. In recent
years that practice has increased in sophistication and
effectiveness.

As information designers we are at an interesting juncture: we
now know how to solve many health information design problems
across a broad spectrum of applications in health, but as yet we
have not had the opportunity nor the numbers to help solve the
many information design problems that face the health sector.
Moreover, as a group, health information designers are presently
scattered across the globe in many different institutional and
informal settings.
