At www.di.unito.it/~sacco you can find an analysis of dynamic taxonomies wrt traditional taxonomies (e.g. monodimensional classification schemes) validated by experiments. With 114,042 documents described by 1100 concepts (each document classified under 11.19 topics on the average), the avg. result size with a traditional taxonomy is 1246.22 documents. The user has to manually scan that many documents (no real user is likely to). With dynamic taxonomies, a single zoom operation reduces this quantity to 27.68. Compelling enough? ---------- Thanks for playing. To unsubscribe from this group, send an email to: [email protected] Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to http://docs.yahoo.com/info/terms/
