This sounds very similar to the approach I'm taking with my architecture.
Wouldn't it be cool if someone recognized that the categories that manage
financial information in a drill down (faceted) manner could be used to manage
content in the same way? Instead of rolling up dollar amounts, you could roll
up collections of content.
The principles are the same - and with faceted classification, you can still
find the individual 'entries' like a check register while gaining the
benefit of linking to the categories to give different views.
I like it! I look forward to loking at GEM when your site gets back on its
feet.
