Topic maps

Hi,
 
Situation:
- There seems to be little development in XFML
- I am craving for something that might be called "nested facets" or
"scopes"
 
Proposal:
Let go of XFML and move to Topic Maps. This facetedclassification
community develops the constraint language to make sure we can still
build our faceted interfaces from it. Topic Maps has its own constraint
language called TMCL. 
 
Advantages:
- Topic Maps has scopes so my problem would be solved.
- The community and development on Topic Maps is alive and kicking.
 
I find the weakness of topic maps that there is no interface that really
uses the power that lies in topic maps. For example :
<http://www.nzetc.org> www.nzetc.org is nice because you can keep on
hopping in different directions. However, it is hard to get an overview.
So locating interesting information is hard on this site. Giving an
overview and allowing a user to make sensible choices is the power of
faceted classification (I think). This marriage might give both parties
a boost!
