I agree!

Mine it's a theoretical distinction, that helped me to better understood the
concept of FACET and its correlata.
In the second case I'd draw the line between THINGS TO DO (facet) and
WATERSPORT, x-SPORTS ... z-SPORTS (topic/foci).

I have a linguistcs background: in that discipline (as in others) there is a
basical concept: the distinction between ABSTRACT vs. CONCRETE: langue vs.
parole (de Saussure) or competence vs. execution (Chomsky). So, /A/ is a
phonema (i.e. the abstract/mental representation of the sound A in the mind
of speaker) vs. [a] that is a phono (i.e. the concrete articulation of that
phonema).

So, I see the difference between Facet and Foci in a similar way: Facet =
the abstract concept; foci the concrete declination/expression of my Facet.

But I agree in a semantic markup language as XFML that intricate distinction
may be omitted (I have to study XFML, I don't know it very well but I am
conquered by it).

I don't know if my senteces were clear. I apologize for such theoretical
digression :)
