** Information Design Conference 2009 **
2-3 April 2009 in Greenwich, London
-----------------------------------------------------------------
The Information Design Association in the UK is pleased to
announce that IDC 2009 is open for registration.
The Web site is here:

Following an enthusiastic response to our call for papers,
we have put together a diverse and international programme
of speaker presentations, posters and demonstrations. This
year's conference offers an exciting variety of case-studies
from design practitioners and their customers, reports from
researchers, and thought-provoking reflections on the
principles behind what information designers and
communicators do.
Topics include:
* Wayfinding and signing
* Interaction design
* Health information
* Instructions and explanations
* Designing online learning environments
* Design models, theories and techniques
* Information design history
There will also be panel discussions, a poster session/reception,
and the opportunity to exchange views in smaller groups with
other conference participants. The detailed programme will
appear on the website within a few days.
As in IDC 2007, the conference setting is the Restoration
grandeur of the University of Greenwich in London, in
buildings designed by Sir Christopher Wren. We've also
organised a convivial conference dinner in the historic
Trafalgar Tavern, overlooking the Thames.
Conference fees have been set at £250 for two days,
£150 for one, with discounts for presenters, students
and group bookings. You can book and pay securely
online by credit card or PayPal, or by bank transfer.
(Payments by cheque will also be accepted before 22 March.)
See Web site for more details.
IDC 2009 is the latest in a series of UK-based Information
Design Conferences organised by the Information Design
Association, most recently held in 1998, 2000 and 2007.
Our previous events have been most enjoyable and
intellectually stimulating, and have led to lasting
global friendships and collaborations. We do not doubt
that IDC 2009 will be every bit as rewarding.
