This is an invitation to the NTCIR-16 conference,
which will be held between June 14 and 17, 2022.
There will be introductions and discussions on various 
kinds of shared tasks in the field of information access 
(information retrieval, NLP,  question answering, etc.) 
at the conference.

* Free Registration
The NTCIR-16 conference will be an online conference
and the registration fee is complimentary.

* Keynotes and Tutorial
We are excited to announce that we will have 
three distinguished keynote speakers.
- Chengxiang Zhai (University of Illinois at 
  Urbana-Champaign, USA), who recently received 
  Salton Award by ACM SIGIR and will talk about
  the simulation-based IR evaluation.
- Ellen Voorhees (NIST, USA), who will review 
  the Cranfield paradigm and discuss its future.
- Falk Scholer (RMIT University, Australia), 
  who will talk about the query variability and 
  relevance scales in the IR evaluation.

We also have a tutorial by Tetsuya Sakai (Waseda University, Japan),
who will give a talk about designing and evaluatiing test 
collections and evaluation measures. 

* Reports from ten shared tasks
The sixteenth NTCIR conference (NTCIR-16) welcomes
all of you who are interested in and/or working on 
information access research. This sesquiannual event 
was first held in 1999, and has grown steadily ever since.
About 277 people from 22 different countries attended 
NTCIR-15and we are hoping that the event will be even 
more successful this time. NTCIR covers diverse information 
access tasks  including, but not limited to, information retrieval, 
question answering, text summarization, and text mining,
with an emphasis on East Asian languages and English.
At the NTCIR-16 conference, we will hear 
exciting reports from the following ten shared tasks:

- Data Search: Data Search
- DialEval: Dialogue Evaluation
- FinNum: Investor’s and Manager’s Fine-grained Claim Detection
- Lifelog: Lifelog Access and Retrieval 
- QALab-PoliInfo: Question Answering Lab for Political Information
- WWW: We Want Web with CENTRE
- RCIR: Reading Comprehension for Information Retrieval
- Real-MedNLP: Real document-based Medical Natural Language Processing
- SS: Session Search
- ULTRE: Unbiased Learning to Ranking Evaluation Task
