The 2025 ACM SIGIR Conference on Human Information Interaction and Retrieva=
l (CHIIR - pronounced "cheer") will take place in Melbourne, Australia betw=
een from 24th to 27th March, 2025. ACM SIGIR CHIIR 2025 invites submissions=
focused on user-centered approaches to the design and evaluation of system=
s for information access, seeking, retrieval, and use. Contributions may ex=
plore improvements to existing systems and interfaces; propose novel theori=
es, models, and systems; or focus on understanding individual and group int=
eractions with information and information systems.

CHIIR is a multi-disciplinary research meeting. In addition to studies of i=
nteractive systems, information interaction, and retrieval, we encourage su=
bmissions on related topics such as human-human information interaction, no=
vel interaction paradigms, new evaluation methods, and related research in =
a range of communities including sociology, education, ethnography, psychol=
ogy, human-computer interaction, and other relevant disciplines.

CHIIR 2025 will offer a remote participation option, in which virtual deleg=
ates will be able to attend all main conference plenary sessions via video.

OVERVIEW
ACM CHIIR 2025 invites submissions focused on user-centered approaches to t=
he design and evaluation of systems for information access, seeking, retrie=
val, and use. Contributions may explore improvements to existing systems an=
d interfaces; propose novel theories, models, and systems; or focus on unde=
rstanding individual and group interactions with information and informatio=
n systems.

We welcome submissions on a wide range of quantitative and qualitative rese=
arch methods. ACM CHIIR operates under the ACM Conference Code of Conduct.

Topics covered include, but are not limited to:

* Information seeking, including task-based and exploratory studies
* Search interfaces, including those for specialized tasks, populations, an=
d domains
* Information access methods and systems for users of all abilities
* Information interactions beyond search
* User-centered design approaches to humans interacting with information an=
d systems
* Interaction techniques for information retrieval and discovery
* Online information seeking, including log analysis of search and browsing
* Modeling and simulation of information interaction
* Quantitative and qualitative studies of human information interaction
* Information seeking and use behaviors, including measures of use and broa=
der sensemaking
* Field and case studies of information searching, design, and access
* User-centered evaluation methods and measures, including online, lab-base=
d and situated measures of user experience and performance, experiment and =
search task design, eye-tracking and neuro-physiological approaches, data a=
nalysis methods, and usability
* Human interaction and experience with conversational information systems =
and other types of stateful and multi-turn interactions between users and s=
earch applications
* Context-aware and personalized search, including design, contextual featu=
res and analysis of information interaction
* Information visualization and visual analytics, including search result p=
resentation
* Enabling and studying multi-modal interactions with information
* Collaborative information seeking and social search, including social uti=
lity and network analysis for information interaction
* Insights and analyses related to human experiences and usage trends with =
recommendation technologies
* Information interaction and seeking with mobile devices and services
* Studies of the use of generative AI for information interaction and retri=
eval
* Information interaction and retrieval in the context of Digital Humanitie=
s
