The marketplace engineering team at Yahoo! is looking for a strong
statistical modeler to work among a multidisciplinary team of software
engineers and statistical modelers to build out Yahoo!'s new search
monetization engine. This position will bring analytical rigor and
statistical methods to the challenges of improving search monetization.

As a member of the marketplace engineering team you will have the
opportunity to work on some of the most visible projects at Yahoo. This
group is a key contributor to the recently launched Panama advertising
platform - one of the most significant platform releases in Yahoo's
history. As a member of this team you will have opportunities to
collaborate with world class researchers and engineers, use leading edge
technology, and develop solutions for key marketplace features such as
pricing, publisher incentive schemes, marketplace clusters, and keyword
auctions. Yahoo also provides several opportunities to collaborate with
your peers both internal and external. Yahoo engineers and scientists
actively contribute papers and staff program committees at major
conferences.

Responsibilities:

Apply statistical methods to Yahoo! data to gain new insights about end
users, advertisers, publishers and their interactions with the Yahoo!
advertising system
Develop new ways to model end user behavior, advertiser and publisher
behavior
Design and conduct statistical experiments to understand the impact of
changes in the advertising system on ad quality, end user experience, and
business metrics
Work closely with product managers and engineers to turn understanding into
system implementation

Requirements:
PhD in Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, Operations Research.
Master's degree with equivalent experience will be considered.
Substantial experience dealing with large volumes of data.
Expertise in statistical software (R, S-Plus, Matlab, SAS, or similar).
Proficiency with databases (SQL) and scripting languages (such as Perl,
Python).
Ability to draw conclusions from data and recommend actions.
Demonstrated leadership and self-direction.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
