Senior Software Engineer -- Search Relevance
A9.com, Palo Alto, California

A9.com, the search technology subsidiary of Amazon.com, is looking for
highly motivated engineers interested in improving the quality of Amazon's
product search.  As part of A9's Relevance team, you'll participate in all
parts of the R&D process, from experimenting with new ideas and exploring
new techniques to implementing the code used by millions of Amazon.com
customers every day.  You'll work on a variety of problems related to the
search experience, ranging from relevance ranking to spelling correction to
query classification.  You'll invent algorithms for improving search
quality and develop methodologies for measuring search effectiveness.
You'll work in A9's small-company environment, but have access to the
resources of Amazon.com, one of the world's leading Internet companies.
You must be an innovative thinker, a strong communicator, and a rock-solid
engineer with a record of
working on industrial-strength software systems.

Requirements:

-- Advanced degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent
industry experience
-- C++ development in a Unix environment
-- Algorithm design and analysis
-- Domain expertise in ONE OR MORE of the following fields:
  -- Information Retrieval
  -- Data Mining
  -- Machine Learning
  -- Computational Linguistics
  -- Artificial Intelligence
