Introduction

The explosive growth of the Internet has made the issue of information
overload
increasingly serious. Web users are very often overwhelmed by huge
amount of
information and are faced with a big challenge to find the most relevant
information in right time. In recent years, interest in recommender
systems has
dramatically increased, driven by demand for Internet personalization
applications. Many major e-commerce web sites are currently using
recommender systems to provide advice to users about products or
services and
help users find the information of their interests quickly. Web-based
recommender systems are the most notable application of the web
personalization. With today's increasing information overload problem
on the
Web, the area of recommender systems research becomes more challenging
than
ever before.

There remain difficulties limiting the full exploitation of
personalization and
recommendation, arising both from technology and from the "human
factor." The
goal of this workshop is to bring together academic and industrial
researchers to
exchange ideas about past, present and future trends in Web
personalization and
recommender systems and discuss the most innovative approaches to
personalization and recommendation making. The themes will be in
algorithms,
applications and interfaces.

We solicit contributions that advance the technology in Web
Personalization and
Recommendation making. Prospective authors are invited to submit
papers in all
related areas.

The workshop will run as a half-day workshop for 8 ¨C 12 paper
presentations  
Important Dates: 
Full paper submission deadline: 20 June, 2007  
Notification of acceptance to authors: 3 August, 2007 
  Camera-ready of accepted papers: 17 August, 2007  
Workshop: 2 - 5 November, 2007

Paper Submission:

Paper submissions should be limited to a maximum of 4 pages (only one
more page is
available and extra payment is required for the extra page). The
papers must be in
English and should be formatted according to the IEEE 2-column format
(see the
Author Guidelines at
http://www.computer.org/portal/pages/cscps/cps/final/wi06.xml). All
submitted
papers will be reviewed by at least 2 program committee members on the
basis of
technical quality, relevance, significance, and clarity. The workshop
only accepts online
submissions. Please use the Submission Form on the WI'07 website to submit
your paper.

All accepted papers will be included in the Workshop Proceedings
published by the
IEEE Computer Society Press, which are indexed by EI.
