Position Overview
Truveo is currently building the next generation of search technology for
the fast-growing market for online video. Truveo, which was founded in
early 2004, was an early pioneer of many of the video indexing and search
technologies that are now experiencing widespread adoption in the market.
The Truveo team, which includes PhDs and seasoned technologists from
institutions such as MIT, Stanford, CMU, Caltech, and Bell Labs, among
others, is recognized as one of the industry's premier video search
technology groups. In December 2005, Truveo was acquired by AOL, and the
Truveo team is currently responsible for AOL's video search products and
technology initiatives.

Over the past 12 months, adoption of our technology offerings has seen
significant growth. Today, through our network of syndication partners and
across the AOL web properties, our video search platform reaches
significantly more users than any other video search engine on the web. We
are currently looking for exceptional and passionate individuals to join us

Position Description:
Truveo is looking for intelligent and talented software engineers to join
our technical team. In this position, you will be responsible for leading
the development of several core components that will become part of our
video search technology platform. You will report directly to the Chief
Architect or CTO and work closely with all members of our talented and
experienced technical team. In this position, you will be responsible for
all aspects of software development, including architecture, design,
coding, documentation, qa, deployment and management.

Additionally, since you will be working on key components of our core
technology platform, you will have the unique opportunity to significantly
impact the success of our product and company. The ideal candidate for this
position will possess a strong understanding of computer science
fundamentals and be able to solve complex engineering problems. A strong
technical acumen is more important than immediately relevant experience.

Required Skills/Experience: BS degree in computer science or 3+ years of
programming experience. Solid understanding of OO software design
principles. Experience with languages and technologies such as PHP,
JavaScript, XML, HTML, CSS, Ruby, ActionScript, Java, and SQL. Deep
understanding of internet protocols and technologies from both the server
and client perspective. Experience writing fault tolerant, high
performance, scalable, database-driven applications. Demonstrated ability
to debug complex code in a production environment. Strong verbal and
written communications skills. Desired Skills/Experience Desired skills: MS
or PhD degree in computer science. Proven ability developing web services.
Experience with MySQL Familiarity with visual design principles and
experience building user interfaces for web applications. Experience
developing database-backed, web applications. Prior architecture and
technical leadership experience. Understanding of HTTP protocols and
streaming media protocols. Prior startup ex
perience. Understanding of search engine and data mining technologies.

Education Requirements
Major/Area of Study Bachelor Degree: Required Master's Degree: Preferred MS
or PhD degree in computer science.
