Applications are invited for a 18-month fixed-term post on the AnaWiki research project funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The project will involve using the enthusiasm of Web surfers for projects such as ‘Wikipedia' to create data that can be used to train natural language processing (NLP) algorithms. This builds on our work on creating annotated resources for anaphora (e.g., in the EPSRC-funded ARRAU project, of which the project is a direct continuation) and on our experience with building web-based applications and attracting subjects to experimental websites. Candidates should be graduates of computer science or computational linguistics and be in possession of a postgraduate degree or equivalent experience in natural language engineering. Applicants must have a strong background in developing Web applications and ideally have some experience with corpus creation and maintenance, Semantic wikis, user interfaces and/or anaphora resolution. The successful candidate would be expected to work closely with the two investigators and must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. Appointment to this full-time, fixed-term post will be from 1 November 2007 or as soon as possible thereafter, until 30 April 2009, and made either on the scale for Research Officers £25,134-£27,466 per annum, or on the scale for Senior Research Officers, within the range £27,466-£28,289 per annum. Further informal enquiries about this post may be made to Dr Massimo Poesio (e-mail: [email protected]) or Dr Udo Kruschwitz (e-mail: [email protected]).
