The Knowledge Media Institute has an opening for a Research Engineer to undertake system development within the context of an EU/IST-funded integrated project, PHAROS. The PHAROS project aims to build a next generation audiovisual search platform, to be designed, developed and applied jointly by a consortium consisting of leading academic and industrial players with proven track records in innovation and commercial success. 

 

Applicants should have strong programming skills in Java/C++/Javascript/Ajax under Linux environment to build interfaces, implement our existing visual annotation and visual search algorithms, integrate/refactor existing software, and to turn them into web services. Research experience in multimedia information retrieval and multimedia databases would be a plus. 

The appointment will be made on the Academic and Research Staff salary scale (Academic Grade 1 or 2), ranging from £25,134 - £32,796 pa depending on qualifications and experience.
