   Research Positions at INRIA Futurs Lille, Mostrare Project


We search for young excellent researchers in one of the following areas:

   * XML database theory
   * machine learning from semi-structured documents

INRIA Futurs Lille is a new computer science research institute in creating
by INRIA in close cooperation with the universities of Lille. This offers
excellent opportunities for permanent positions as full time researchers,
postdoc, doctoral, and master students.

Lille is the largest city of north of France, belonging to a metropolis of
a million inhabitants. By train it is located 60 minutes from Paris, 38
minutes from Bruxelles, and 100 minutes from London.

Mostrare <http://www.grappa.univ-lille3.fr/mostrare> is Lille's research
project in XML database theory and machine learning from semi-structured
documents. It combines methods from logics and automata with techniques
from grammatical inference and statistical learning. Currently, we are
seeking for excellent researchers that are interested in joining the
Mostrare project as a permanent full-time researcher employed by INRIA or
CNRS.  The positions at CNRS have been opened recently, those of INRIA will
follow very soon.

The overall number of positions this year is huge. INRIA Futurs Lille
offers 3 positions for young researchers (PhD thesis + max 4 years), CNRS
offers 22 further positions for all of France. INRIA Futurs holds 2 more
positions for experienced young researchers (PhD thesis + 5 years or more),
the CNRS adds 9 further for all of France. Furthermore, there are numerous
openings of positions for senior researchers both at INRIA and CNRS.

We are particularly interested in candidates satisfying one of the
following two profiles:

   * database theory, XML, logics, trees, automata
   * machine learning, statistical learning, kernel methods,
     grammatical inference, structured output

Other techniques relevant to information extraction are welcome too
(programming languages, natural language processing, etc). It is important
to prepare applications carefully and as soon as possible, so that their
appropriateness with respect to the Mostrare project becomes clear for the
selection committee.
