Now I won't claim this one as any rare gem of common sense, it's just that I found myself uttering what sounded like a conventional idiom that I had no doubt picked up at school somewhere, but when I paused to reflect on the actual form of words that I had so unwittingly used, it struck me as a thing newly strange and oddly unfamiliar, as though I were hearing it for the very first time. What in the world can it mean to ask how realities impact on our representations?
