Reply to David Bourget Re: http://philpapers.org/post/792 Re: http://philpapers.org/browse/13/thread.pl?tId=222#p792 Charles Sanders Peirce approached the matter of relations and relative terms in a way that gave equal weight to comprehension (what we loosely call intension today) and extension, resolving their duality in the medium of a third something he called information. He also gave an account of hypostatic abstraction, the process by which we posit a property common to all and only those tuples in the extension of a concept.
