I do not know about the details of S4, but the
general idea that examining the presuppositions
of pointy individuals and sharp predicates will
force us to consider a more distribution-based,
more information-based form of logic is found
throughout the work of C.S. Peirce.

I think I quoted some passages here before under
the heading "Doctrine of Individuals", and there
is the introduction that K.L. Ketner & H. Putnam
wrote for Peirce's ''Reasoning and the Logic of
Things'' (Harvard U.P., 1992) that come to mind.
