It's hardly a new thought, of course, but one that won't let me alone.
A dozen years of intense to intermittent participation on the Peirce
List has led me to appreciate the fact that every reader will likely
take away a different reading from all the most tantalizing passages
in Peirce's work.  But I'm beginning to see that trying to anticipate
every possible interpretation leads to a state of hermeneutic paralysis.
So I'm thinking I might try loosening up my readings a little bit, and
simply say what I personally get out of them.  We'll see if that works.
