KM = Kirsti Määttänen
KM: I, for my part, am not even the least interested in finding
in Kaina Stoichea materials for a formal theory of signs. --
One of the reasons tor that is that I do not think there
is one to be found.
KM: If Jon is interested, he can of course, use tjhe piece for that end,
and discuss it from that point of view. -- Still, I will be very
surprised of any substantial findings.
KM: Jon, you are already familiar with this piece on Peirce's wrirings. --
To ease my surprise give me one paragraph giving more than a clue
for a formal theory of signs.
KM: In amazement, Kirsti ...
Maybe I'm amazed that you're amazed ...
How about this:

Or this:
• http://inquiryintoinquiry.com/2012/06/04/c-s-peirce-%E2%80%A2-logic-as-semiotic/
Maybe you are attaching a different meaning to "formal axiomatic theory"?
But I believe I am using it in accord with my schooling -- that school of
thought that stretches its rope from Euclid through Peirce to the present.

Jon
