Re: Michael Shapiro At: http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.science.philosophy.peirce/9067 Michael & All, I kept up fairly well with several varieties of generative and transformational linguistics up through the beginnings of Government and Binding theory, as that much consorted well with logic and programming in a sort of mutual application society. But I did get the impression that the field of linguistics began to regress after that, back to blind connectionist, naive inductivist, and brute force statistical approaches.
