My Comment —

Re: “While truths of mathematics are classed as necessary and a-priori,
we are thinking as if they are contingent. At least this reflects
discovery the way we as mathematical theorists experience it.”

The contingencies of temporal creatures discovering eternal truths
led Kant to the notion of synthetic à priori judgments. Though
this category was rejected by later “analytic” philosophers,
I think the basic insight is sound, and similar ideas were
given a thorough development in the work of C.S. Peirce.

Regards,

Jon
