Hi Jeff,

We had a power outage this morning that put me several hours behind in my correspondence.  The way 
things are going it may be next week before I can get back to the graph theory thread, speaking of 
which I will most likely fold this discussion back into that, as the Phenomenology and Categories 
setting somehow induces the wrong sort of mood for working in the graphical frame of mind.  Just 
scanning your questions below, let me recommend the following history of the subject that will 
afford a good sense of the continuities of subject matter underlying the vagaries of language.
