Dear People,

The current situation between Linux-aktivaattori and the localisation
group seems to be in a terrible deadlock. We see the point of view of
Linux-Aktivaattori has not been heard, and we hoped a fair and
constructive discussion during the localisation weekend would clear the
air. But Marko, in his role as leader of the localisation group, made
abundantly clear cooperation with Linux-Aktivaattori is not wanted nor
desired.

Although we share common goals, Linux-Aktivaattori will therefore no
longer attempt to discuss how we could work together in harmony towards
those goals.

We also hope this will release the pressure from the current situation
so the localisation group can continue their great work without worries.

Despite this, we will honour our current arrangements with the
localisation group.
The current mailing-list arrangement can stay in place if the group
desires it, as we can change the list-setup so those lists use another
domain. Or if the group is planning to switch them over to another
server, they can be used until that time.

Concerning cooperation with the translation department of the Helsinki
University, we hope to have a project going next academic year. As we
made the contacts and did a presentation, we will try to continue this
effort.
Naturally we will need the help of one or more localisation teams, and
we are eager to hear if any team is willing to help in such project.

Other than these already ongoing efforts, Linux-Aktivaattori won't be
making initial contact with the localisation group as a whole.
But if we find other localisation related activities (e.g. alike
translation department projects), we might try to contact individual
teams about it.

As always we are open to cooperation with those willing to cooperate
with us. And we certainly hope in the future there will be again some
sort of cooperation between Linux-Aktivaattori and the localisation
teams.

I sincerely hope this decision releases the current deadlock, so we can
all continue working productively towards our common goals of advancing
FLOSS in Finland.

With kind regards,

The board of Linux-Aktivaattori
