It's rather ironic that you did reply to that thread where I did the setup:

Nothing development related was mentioned at this time, when I would 
have spent time to integrate this upstream.

I've built once this version, never followed much the list, and I'm no 
longer caring much, seeing how fribidi2 doesn't seem to be package in 
many distros.

So you are welcome to use what I provided at the time, and maybe do the 
remaining job of integration if there is interest upstream.
