Re: What happened to Christen iPod?

Well, I liked it.  I've got a bunch of different iPods, and I named them
WGHiPod1, WGHiPod2, etc.  Having them "christened" helped my easily addled
brain.  (But, then again, using different colored sharpies to color the
firewire flap worked too.  I just haven't figured out the appropriate place
to deface my gen 3 ipods.)

I was also hoping that, in some far off future time, specific syncing
settings could be tied to a particular iPod through it's christened name.

The "christen" process just writes a string into the
iPod_Control\iTunes\DeviceInfo file.  That's right, isn't it?  Perhaps, if
you decide to bring it back, you could have the "christen" process set the
volume label too.  That ought to convince the folks that didn't think it did
anything that it in fact does.  Or did it do that all along?

By the way: the "christen" process NEVER broke my iPod when I was on crack.
I don't know what all those other crack-head are complaining about.

If "christen" doesn't make it back into Ephpod, life will go on.  Here's one
vote if favor of it, for what it's worth.

I thought that it had relatively little use...?  I can bring it back,
but from a support standpoint, most people either said (a) it didn't
work [usually referring to the fact that it didn't rename the iPod
drive?], or (b) it broke their iPods [and I think they were on crack,
but...]
