Firmware update question

I have a 10gig model running 1.2.2 should I update to the latest Firmware and if so how do you go about it? I don't seem to have any problems at the moment, and I read a lot of people seem to run into problems when trying to update. I did try pressing the update firmware tab in Ephpod but this just brought up a box telling me it was looking and froze. Should I be happy with the Firmware I have ? the trouble is you always think you should have the latest.
