ONly having 4 freq is a major buzzkill. In NY, for example, all 4 are
either in use or very close to a b'cast station such that there's
significant bleed over. I returned mine after a few days. I got instead a
no-name device here:

The price is right, it has a more generous tuning range (88.1 to about 94,
if I recall) and it lasts forever on a pair of AAA batteries (and I use the
no name brand from the everything-for-a-buck store. About 12 batteries for
a buck). OK, not forever, but 20-30 hours for a set of batteries.
Cons: Easy to forget to shut it off, but again the batteries are
inconsequentially cheap). Its not Phase lock loop, but It doesn't have
frequency drift issues that I can detect after about 150 hours of use)

Overall, the big issue is that the FCC mandates that these devices b'cast
at a very low power rating. Very low. You have to turn your car stereo
volume up to 11. I think this is utter bullshit, since they have similar
devices at my gym so you can listen to the TV while you work out with your
headseat radio... And these devices are clearly b'casting a more powerful
signal. Also, overall, signal quality is in a word, compressed, just like
all FM signals. Mine is not awful in this respect, but clearly, a cable and
line into a car stereo would be the way to go. Why this is not a common
feature to all car stereos in this day and age is beyond me.
