ok heres what i think happened.... i was plugging my ipog in to the firewire
card and i accidently had the plug upside down and sisnt realize so i forced
it in it didnt take much forc though and i never thought it would go in
upside down but it did. the ipod reset as usual but didnt connect which is
typical. the problem now is that if i plug my ipod in the pc correctly it
resets and says "ok to disconnect" and the pc dosent recognise it. same
thing happens if i plug it in to the ac adapter. i can get to the debug menu
and when i go to "sleep" it says the battery is low which i know it isnt. i
can also force it into disk mode but if i plug it in it still resets. i can
play songs as usual but i dont want to charge it in disk mode because the hd
keeps spinning and i dont want wear on the hd. i think it could be the
firewire cable but thats the only idea i have. its a 5gb mac ipod formatted
to fat32 with 1.26 firmware on. any suggestions would be great thanks
