On a slightly related note... I recently had trouble with my Windows iPod.
I plug it into my friend's G4 to grab a large aiff file from him (a concert)
so I can take it home and master it. On my way home in the car, the iPod
starts skipping all the tracks... like, it tries to play them but can't. It
just keeps cycling through. I get home and mount the iPod and it has extra
folders on it, like .DS_Store and .Trashes from OS X. I can't read the song
database... so I try to restore it but I get a "disk write failure" and the
updater freezes. Now I can't mount the damn thing at all. So I do a hard
reset and then I get the Apple logo... and then this progress bar I hadn't
seen before. Once it finishes whatever it was doing, I plug it back into
the dock and finally... it works.

So just a word of caution, be careful plugging into Macs!
