Interesting. I have:

* a Macally PCI to 1394 with two external 1394 6-pin external
sockets and one internal pin-type connector that was the reason
I bought it so I could drive a 3.5" bay hub that has a 6-pin
internal socket on its cable; I don't see this card on the
Macally web site, but I know it's Macally because I bought
two and haven't installed one yet, it's still in the Macally
clear plastic box; it is red PCB material and instead of
being a rectangualar board, one side is cut so it narrows
down as it goes toward the back of the board; go to
http://www.macally.com/spec/firewire/connecting/fhcard3.html
and look at the nav icons at the top -- the PCI to Firewire
Adapter 3-port icon has a cut-out board (but mine slants instead
of being stepped down), but that icon brings up a rectangular
board instead, that isn't what I have.

* a virtually identical adapter -- including the distinctive
red PCB material and the slanted shape -- but with a 6-pin
A-type external socket on for internal use; no manufacturer ID
of any kind.

No such luck. I have seen USB Motherboard to USB port adapters, but no
Firewire adapters.
I say you have two options..well three.
1. Keep searching for an adapter or PCI card (or what for other replies)
2. Make your own adapter by mutilating a firewire cable and soldering
the proper connections onto the end of the front panel cable
3. Rip out the existing front panel cable and replace it with a 6pin
Male to Female cable.

Anyone know of a PCI firewire adapter with an internal pinned connector?
I just got a new case with a case-front firewire plug, but the cable has
a motherboard header style connector.
