The ripping software that I use, Easy CDDA extractor from Poikosoft, currently claims to write MP4 files with "iPod/iTunes compatible metadata." I haven't had a chance to test this claim. Ephpod will transfer the files to the iPod, but won't read the tags. The files seem to play just fine. But all that aside, I love Jukka Poikolainen's software. http://www.poikosoft.com/download.html -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]]On Behalf Of richard Sent: Wednesday, September 03, 2003 2:07 PM To: [email protected] Cc: [email protected] Subject: [ephpod] Re: MP4 Status I believe Ephpod is reading tags from mp4 (m4a) files. The latest version does a better job than the earlier versions. Ephpod does not currently write tag info. All the programs I've seen support tagging that is consistent with Apple iTunes tagging. For example, the routines in foobar2000's masstagger and in faad2 (same code) and dbPowerAmp. I hope Apple doesn't change things when the windows version of iTunes comes out. Prior versions of Ephpod did not appear to see mp4/m4a files when searching the ipod database (iTunesDB), so it would reload those files on a re-sync. This may have been corrected in the latest version, but I haven't had the energy to do a full re-sync with 2.73.
