Thanks - downloaded, compiled and installed.

First observation: I stil get after a disconnect for each track one
message box "Music directory not found: '/media/iPod/iPod_Control/Music'
(or similar)." with a cancel button. These are many message boxes, Only
one would be sufficient, as they say the same - or a button for "cancel
all".

Second observation: I set the number of tracks to 15, and gtkpod is
trying to add and copy 126 songs before a save.
