OK -

* I installed from source
* I uninstalled the older version (make uninstall in the directory of gtkpod)
* uncompressed the new version into a *new* directory and made:
   /configure --prefix=$HOME CFLAGS="-ggdb -O0" LDFLAGS="-ggdb -O0"
   make
   make install
the output from
  find ./T* -ls > ~/added.txt
(I added only the folders starting with T) is attached

Yes, I only used the "Add Folders" from the menu and selected all the
folders starting with T (today I will continue with the next letters)

I also attach the gtkpod.profile and the prefs file I used - and it
added consistently (instead of the 50 set at) 25.

Can I compile gtkpd so that I get the messages which P.G. had in his
email? This would make it easier to debug, as I rely on the messages
in the status bar of gtkpod.

For what it's worth, I am using libgod 0.7.95-1 from the official maverick repo.
