Clear and reasonable answer.

There are two reasons, why it could be useful to have this:

1) Users like to be able to do wireless sync - there is an app from
cydia which costs $9.99 (if I remember correctly) which is very highly
reviewed, which is doing only that: providing wireless sync for iDevices
and iTunes under Windows and Mac. I am sure there are many users who
would not mind having that feature under Linux as well.

2) I have random disconnects when using the USB cable under Linux to
sync tracks - it only happens when synching, and the same when mounting
via gvfs or ifuse (copying files to the iPod touch works fine, by the
way - no disconnects there, only when using gtkpod, banshee, rhythmbox -
I haven't tested others yet). It was working when using sshfs (well -
sort off - at least no random disconnect). So it could be a kind of
"fallback" mechanism.

I added it to the bug tracker so that it does not get lost:

FS#61 - Add support for sshfs or similarly mounted jailbroken iPod via ssh

It has landed in the project gtkpod, but it might belong in libgpod - I
don't know.
