ld: duplicate symbol _CONF_ID in .libs/filetype_iface.o and .libs/gtkpod_app_iface.o

gtkpod has been available through MacPorts <http://macports.org> for
some time now.
I am attempting to upgrade the ported version to 2.0.0, but following
error causes the compilation process to bail:
[snip]
    CCLD   libgtkpod.la
    ld: duplicate symbol _CONF_ID in .libs/filetype_iface.o and
.libs/gtkpod_app_iface.o
    collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
[snip]
I have been told this may be a result of a header being #include'd
multiple times with improper limitations on a function's scope.
I have no idea what that means and was hoping some of you might have a
better grasp on the problem's meaning, its potential origins, or both.

Any help would be appreciated.
